Our Philosophy

Permission to Exhale believes strengthening society means strengthening the family, and strengthening the family means strengthening the individual.

Our Decisive Control Training engages the inherent wisdom of martial arts training to not only improve participant’s mental and emotional wellbeing, but also their physical safety and competence. After the sweat and struggle, we take time to mindfully articulate the lessons our bodies have just learned. “What does Jiu-Jitsu teach us about… resilience, humility, unity vs. division…. How does that apply to our lives, to our families, to policing?”

Studies demonstrating the benefits of practicing martial arts are decisive and abundant. Our professional instructors use their expertise to engage participants in the art and science of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in the context of mental wellbeing and personal growth.
